Mr Dean Joneswarden@lundyisland.co.uk
Iam the full time warden on Lundy, a small but ecologically important island located of the North coast of Devon in the Bristol Channel. Every year as part of the island High level stewardship scheme, the productivity of the islands seabirds are studied, firstly to see how the islands populations are recovering after the eradication of rats from the isle in 2006, and secondly to see how these values compare between years. Full island seabird census studies are carried out by the RSPB as well as burrow occupancy studies of Manx shearwater by tape play back calls. Storm petrel (a very recent coloniser to the isle) studies will hopefully commence this year now that a breeding colony has been located.
