I am the manager of the Maui Nui Seabird Recovery Project. The project focuses on the seabirds of the four islands that make up the county of Maui, Hawaii. Particular emphasis is focused on the endangered Hawaiian petrel, threatened Newell's shearwater, band-rumped storm petrel and Wedge-tailed shearwater. Active research projects inform recovery and enhancement activities for all populations. Habitat management, especially invasive weed control, and predator control are major focus of work on the island of Lana'i where the second largest known population of Hawaiian petrels was documented by the project in 2006.
