Hutton’s Shearwaters in Kaikoura have a colony on my property in the Puhi Peaks Nature Reserve. I am a trustee of the Hutton’s Shearwater Charitable Trust and advocate for the conservation, preservation, public awareness and long term sustainability of this bird.
I wear a hat as an educator into the community and event organizer to continue to raise awareness for Hutton’s Shearwaters. I also assist researchers with their projects related to this bird, including, burrows coping for survival rates, translocations and any other relevant science taking place at any time in and around Kaikoura and beyond.
I am passionate about the Puhi Peaks Nature Reserve and the huge Bio-Diversity we have on this piece of land. “Kaitiaki” for the future is all important.
