I am a seabird ecologist and conservation biologist who works with Oikonos Ecosystem Knowledge (www.oikonos.org) and teaches at the University of Puget Sound. My research interests focus on the ecology and conservation of seabirds and island ecosystems, including impacts of anthropogenic threats (e.g., habitat loss and disturbance, introduced species, interactions with fisheries, and marine plastic debris) on bird population dynamics, restoration of native ecosystems, population dynamics and monitoring, seabirds as ecological indicators, and the role of seabirds as upper-trophic level predators.
In addition to my research, I am also interested in community-based conservation through capacity building, education and outreach in local communities.
