Seattle Audubon Society, United States
I manage the Puget Sound Seabird Survey in Seattle, USA. The project entails 100+ volunteers surveying for seabirds at 70+ points within the Puget Sound. The surveys are conducted each month from Oct-Apr, every year, and were started in 2007. Surveyors use Distance sampling survey techniques and have so far collected an immense amount of valuable data. The results of this research will increase the knowledge of wintering seabirds in the Puget Sound area and inform local authorities on where to concentrate conservation and clean-up efforts after an oil spill.
