Job Title: Light Pollution Technical Officer

Team: LIFE Arċipelagu Garnija

Location of job: BirdLife Malta offices in Salini and Ta’ Xbiex

Overall purpose of the job: To carry out a range of duties related with actions to study and reduce light pollution affecting seabird colonies in Malta.

Main Duties:

Research and data gathering

Determine the necessary techniques and ways forward to reduce light pollution at specific localities Mapping of the exposure of Yelkouan Shearwater colonies to light pollution and identifying light sources Office-based work to compile, process and analyse data collected Work alongside project partner Transport Malta in a pilot project aimed at reducing light pollution from the Ċirkewwa Ferry Terminal. Public relations

Assist in the organisation of meetings and workshops with key authorities and stakeholders as well as events involving volunteers Liaise with project partner Transport Malta for the Ċirkewwa pilot project Reporting

Carry out a review of current policies and legislation on light pollution in Malta. To produce reports as required by the project Field work

Occasionally work outdoors to take light pollution measures at night and identify light pollution sources For a full job description and person specification click here.
