Steve Klose, April 8, 2019

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join BirdLife Australia’s Migratory Shorebird Program team.

The Migratory Shorebird Program is guided by and delivers part of the national Migratory Shorebird Conservation Action Plan, a multi-stakeholder strategy to coordinate migratory shorebird research and conservation actions within Australia and throughout the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. Priorities include ensuring protection of significant migratory shorebird habitat across the flyway, improving management and threat mitigation at important sites in Australia and addressing important knowledge gaps in migratory shorebird ecology.

The key pillars of the program are community engagement in the collection of spatially explicit data on shorebird distribution and numbers in Australia, rigorous scientific analysis for population trends and threats, and the use of these data by BirdLife Australia for shorebird conservation, directly and through the involvement of community groups, environmental managers and governments.
