Hi everyone, I am currently working as an ornithologist on expedition cruise vessels. Over the last week, whilst travelling south down the coast of Chile towards Antarctica, we have had several incidences of birds (shearwaters, storm-petrels and diving-petrels) becoming stranded on the ship overnight. We have been following the IAATO guidelines for bird strikes and, once we get to Antarctica, will submit any incidences to IAATO via the official route. However we would like to know if there are any study groups or organisations collecting data on bird strikes in other parts of the world.
Does anyone know of any central database for bird strikes on vessels, or any group collecting and analysing this information?
